2. Information we collect

We only collect information that we reasonably need to operate BetterPage and provide our services.

When you contact us through our website, we collect:

  • your email address; and
  • the contents of your message.

If you become a client, we may also collect information such as:

  • your name and business name;
  • business contact details;
  • billing and payment information;
  • information about your website, domain and services;
  • correspondence between you and BetterPage; and
  • information you provide to us so that we can deliver our services.

Our website and service providers may also process limited technical information such as IP addresses, browser information and server logs for security and operation of the website.

3. How we use your information

We may use your personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries;
  • discuss and provide quotes for our services;
  • set up and manage client relationships;
  • design, host, maintain and support client websites;
  • manage domains and related services;
  • process and administer payments;
  • communicate with clients about their services;
  • maintain business and accounting records;
  • prevent abuse, spam and security incidents; and
  • comply with legal or regulatory obligations.

We do not sell personal information.

We do not use information submitted through the contact form for unrelated marketing purposes.

4. Our lawful bases

Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful basis for using personal information.

Depending on the circumstances, we rely on:

Contract — where processing is necessary to provide our services, or where you have asked us to take steps before entering into a contract, such as discussing your requirements or providing a quote.

Legitimate interests — where necessary for the reasonable operation and protection of BetterPage, including responding to business enquiries, maintaining security and administering our business, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

Legal obligation — where we need to keep or use information to comply with legal, tax, accounting or regulatory requirements.

Where we rely on consent for a particular activity, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

5. Contact form

Our website contact form is processed using Web3Forms.

When you submit the form, your email address and message are sent through Web3Forms so that the enquiry can be delivered to us.

Web3Forms and other service providers may process technical information associated with the submission.

We also use an email provider to receive and store correspondence.

We only provide service providers with the information they need to perform their services.

6. International transfers

Some of the services we use may process information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take the steps required by UK data protection law to ensure that it receives an appropriate level of protection.

7. Payments

If you become a client, payments may be handled by a third-party payment provider.

Payment providers may collect information directly from you in order to process payments or set up recurring payment instructions.

BetterPage does not need to store your full bank or card details where these are handled directly by the payment provider.

8. How long we keep information

We do not keep personal information for longer than we reasonably need it.

As a general guide:

  • enquiries that do not become clients may be retained for up to 12 months after our last communication;
  • client correspondence and service records may be retained for the duration of the client relationship and afterwards where reasonably necessary;
  • financial, contractual and accounting records may normally be retained for up to six years where required for legal, tax, accounting or dispute purposes; and
  • technical logs may be retained for shorter periods by us or our service providers for security and operational purposes.

We may retain information for longer where required by law or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

9. Cookies and analytics

BetterPage does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies.

We do not currently set non-essential cookies for tracking visitors across websites.

Our hosting, security or form-processing providers may process limited technical information required to operate and protect their services.

If we introduce non-essential cookies or analytics in future, we will update this policy and request consent where required.

10. Who we share information with

We may share personal information with trusted service providers where necessary to operate BetterPage.

These may include:

  • website hosting and infrastructure providers;
  • contact-form processing services;
  • email providers;
  • domain and DNS providers;
  • payment providers;
  • accounting or professional advisers; and
  • other suppliers required to deliver services to a client.

We may also disclose information where required by law.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

11. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to:

  • request access to your personal information;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate information;
  • ask us to delete information;
  • ask us to restrict how information is used;
  • receive certain information in a portable format;
  • object to certain uses of your information; and
  • withdraw consent where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@betterpage.co.uk.

12. Your right to object

Where we rely on legitimate interests to use your personal information, you have the right to object to that processing in certain circumstances.

You can contact us at contact@betterpage.co.uk.

13. Complaints

If you have concerns about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve them.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
